The deal, in plain words

In one paragraph. Nada Kodagu is free. Report civic problems you have actually seen, in Kodagu, without putting people in your photographs. We publish what passes our checks, keep a public record of it, and remove what breaks the rules. We are a small project, not an emergency service and not the government.
1. What this is
Nada Kodagu is a citizen reporting platform for Kodagu district, Karnataka. You photograph a civic problem — a pothole, a fallen tree, uncollected waste — and it is placed on a public map and matched to the department responsible for it.
It is offered free of charge, with no advertising. We may change or stop it, though we will not delete the public record without saying so first.
2. Using it
- You must be 18 or over.
- You need a working email address. One person, one account.
- Your public name is yours to choose, but it may not impersonate a person, a department, or an official body, and reserved names are not available.
- You are responsible for what you post from your account.
3. What you may post
The full rules are on the community guidelines page and are the ones our moderators actually apply. In summary: report the problem, not a person; do not stage, forward or re-post images as though they were new; do not use the platform to target anyone; and do not post anything unlawful.
Emergencies are not what this is for. If there is danger to life, call 112, or the Forest Department on 1926, before you open this app.
4. What happens to your report
- Submitted reports are scored automatically. Most publish immediately; some go to a human moderator; some are refused.
- We do not always explain a refusal. Explaining exactly which check a report failed would tell someone trying to game the system precisely what to change. This is a deliberate trade against transparency, and you can appeal any decision.
- Published reports are public: visible to anyone, including the press and government departments, and included in public statistics.
- You keep ownership of your photographs. By posting, you give us permission to display, store and distribute them as part of the platform and to send them to the relevant authority. You can withdraw this by deleting the report, though we cannot recall what has already been sent.
5. Moderation and enforcement
We may remove a report, restrict an account, or suspend it. Every such decision is recorded with the rule it was made under and the evidence at the time — moderators cannot act without leaving that record.
You may appeal any decision through the contact form. Appeals are read by a person.
6. What we do not promise
This part matters, so it is not buried:
- We cannot make anyone fix anything. Nada Kodagu records and routes; it has no authority over any department, and a report here is not a legal complaint or an official grievance to the government.
- We do not guarantee that a report reaches a department, or that a department responds. Where a report has been sent, the scorecard says so.
- The platform is provided as it is. It may be unavailable, lose a queued report, or classify a photograph wrongly. We will fix what we can.
- Reports are made by members of the public and may be mistaken. Do not rely on them for safety decisions.
- Map boundaries are illustrative, not authoritative, and say nothing about any legal or administrative boundary.
To the extent Indian law allows, our liability for any loss arising from use of this free service is limited. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
7. Our role in law
We are an intermediary under the Information Technology Act, 2000. We do not author the reports. When we are properly notified of unlawful content, or ordered by a competent authority, we act on it.
8. Complaints
Complaints go through the contact form — choose Grievance. We acknowledge within 24 hours and dispose of the complaint within 15 days, as rule 3(2) requires. Complaints about the removal of your own content are dealt with in the same channel.
9. Law
These terms are governed by the law of India, and the courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka have jurisdiction.
10. Changes
We will publish changes here. If a change materially affects your rights we will say so in the app rather than relying on you re-reading this page.
