Eight rules, and what happens under each
These are not a summary of the rules. They are the rules — the same numbered records our moderators must cite when they remove something, generated from the same table the moderation console reads.
Last updated 9 August 2026 · Both languages, because both are used here
Every removal names one of these rules. A moderator cannot reject a report without selecting the rule it broke, and the reason is recorded with an evidence snapshot. If you think a decision was wrong, say so through the contact form — appeals are read by a person.
The rules
P1 · Acted on within 24 hours
1. Report the problem, not the person
The pothole's location is the point; a private person's location or identity is not. Do not post photos that focus on identifiable people, faces, vehicle number plates, or the inside of someone's home.
P1 · Acted on within 24 hours
2. No harassment or targeting of individuals
Nada Kodagu is for collective care of the nadu. Do not use reports or notes to shame, threaten, abuse or target any person, family, community or caste.
P2 · Reviewed within 72 hours
3. No knowingly false or staged reports
Do not report something you know is not there, re-post an old or borrowed photo as if it were new, or stage a scene. Forwarded and screenshot images are detected and scored down.
P2 · Reviewed within 72 hours
4. No vote manipulation
Do not use extra accounts, or coordinate with others, to confirm or dismiss reports. Confirm only what you have actually seen.
P0 · Acted on within 24 hours
5. No impersonation
Do not present yourself as another person, as a government officer, or as any department or official body. This is acted on within 24 hours.
P3 · Reviewed within 168 hours
6. No crime or people reporting
This is not a place to report crimes, accidents involving people, or suspicions about individuals. For emergencies call 112; for forest emergencies call 1926.
P3 · Reviewed within 168 hours
7. No spam, advertising or duplicate flooding
Do not post advertising, links for promotion, or the same issue many times over. Re-reporting a problem that is genuinely still there is welcome; flooding is not.
P0 · Acted on within 24 hours
8. No illegal or sexual content
Sexual content, content involving children, and content that is unlawful under Indian law are removed immediately and reported to the authorities where the law requires it.
How this is enforced
- P0 — impersonation, unlawful content. Acted on within 24 hours and, where the law requires it, reported to the authorities.
- P1 — privacy and harassment. Acted on within 24 hours.
- P2 — false reports and vote manipulation. Reviewed within 72 hours.
- P3 — wrong-place reports and spam. Reviewed within 72 hours.
Repeated breaches earn strikes, which expire after twelve months. Enough active strikes and an account is suspended from posting and voting — browsing stays open, because being unable to read the map does not teach anyone anything.
What we do not do
We do not always tell you exactly which automated check a report failed. Explaining that precisely would hand anyone trying to game the system a manual for it. This is a real cost to transparency and we would rather name it than pretend it away — which is why every decision can be appealed to a person.
